Only one “First Time”
I wonder…what should my first blog post be about? Should it be serious or funny? Short or long? Do I talk about life coaching? Do I talk about me? Well, I think I have to talk about me to some extent…
So, if you have jumped directly into my blog, you CAN find some information about me by perusing that. (Perusing…aren’t I fancy?) I do go into my life experiences so far. In this blog, I will probably touch on them again, but in greater detail.
In a nutshell: Grew up in a big family; was in IT for over 25 years. Happily partnered. Family bonds getting stronger. But…eventually burned out due a perfect storm of changes in my family life, work life, and internally. Decided to make a career change, but that required a lot on introspection, analysis, journaling, self-coaching, and just throwing myself into deciphering what my new career should be.
I AM NOW THE LIFE COACH THAT I WISH I HAD WHEN I FELT LOST AND WAS LOOKING TO CHANGE CAREER.
I love helping people. I love working with people so they can figure out what might make them happy…what might be blocking them…and more importantly, WHY its of importance to them. Honing my analyst skills in IT has helped me be curious and inquisitive when I am coaching.
Taking the coaching courses at Erickson Coaching International and continuing to be mentored by them has taught me valuable skills that allows the coaching clients to feel at ease and safe so that they can relax and explore what they really want, why they want it, and how they might get it. Being coached by my peers has definitively helped me be a better coach and more importantly be a better version of me overall. I listen more. I show up more. I am more Zen when something unexpected arises.
So, getting back to the questions at the start of this blog post: There is only one first time.
First time to make a good first impression. First time to get it right. First time to nail it.
What’s with all this pressure? Just post something. Just be you…I mean me. Let me come through and I hopefully, what I am writing will contact with some people, or at the very least, make them curious to learn more about me and what is in my noggin.
So…future blog posts will touch upon my experiences in life, what I have learned, how I tried to tackle them. There will be some “coachy” things mixed in there too. I just want the posts to be me and that means the content will vary so hopefully you’ll be along for the ride.
So that’s it for my first post. Be kind to yourself. Be kind to others. If you feel that you’re easily triggered right now, may I suggest that you take a few minutes to just do some breathing exercises; you can find them on Youtube to ground yourself; take some time for yourself to reset, to recharge. The only person who can ultimately help you…is you. You are worth taking time for yourself. If you can’t take care of yourself, then you won’t be able to care for others.
See you soon.
